RE: perfect caliber for wife?
About 20 years ago my father let one of his good friends use his (at the time, mine now) Winchester model 88 in 308 Win.to hunt moose in Maine. They sighted it in with 180 gr. Remington Core Lokts.His friendshot his moose in the lungsat around50 yards. The moose only ran 50 yards or so after the shot. I'm not saying the 308 Win. is an ideal moose cartridge, but under the right conditions and in the right hands, it will work.[/align][/align]A 280 Rem. might be worth taking a look at too.[/align][/align]
