I' m not sure which areas are general. I live in the Black Hills of SD and there is great elk hunting right across the state line in WY units, 1, 116, and 117. The bowhunting is exceptional, several pope and young bulls come out of there every year and the majority of the hunting is National Forest Service. I have also hunted the Bridger Teton Widerness Area but you will need a guide in there. I have some contacts around the Bighorn Mtns, (Buffalo area) also. I have no idea what those areas are.
