RE: See through mounts
You have a 2X setting. Look through that and you can see the sights. So what is the advantage of a see through mount? I want my scope as close to the barrel as possible. That will reduce vibrations to the scope, it will also stop the neck stretching that can happen when you have see through mounts. Also of the rifles that I have them on, I never use the see through aspect of it. Now some people really like them. I just never use them. I can practice and pull that scope up as fast as I could with see through. When I stalk, I use the 2X setting. On stand I use the 7X setting.
As for the scope, I really like the Nikon Pro Staff. I use the same scope on two different muzzleloaders and I think they are an excellent value. Instead of see through mounts, I would go with Warne QD quick release rings. Then you can take the scope off if you want to clean the rifle, or hunt with open sights.
