There is no doubt that this deer will die (judging from what you wrote...as best I could understand). The problem is though, he may end up dying in the next county!
You must understand just how tough Whitetails are, I think (by some folks posts) some of you think that once hit the deer just fall over dead or run a littlethen fall over dead........not so!!
Just thefact that you spooked (bumped) him tells me you set out after him WAY too soon. If you are not 100% sure your shot was a double lung or center heart, you should have markedthe spot where you hit him with an arrow and backed out quietly.
Like I said, I'm pretty sure that deer is dead, but I'm not so sure you're going to find him. It's possible he ran another few hundred yards or less and laid down again, but it's also just as possible he took off with all of his remaining strength and ran far far away from the "predator" chasing him.
I hope he didn't run far and I hope you find him. I also hope that you learn from this experience.
