Never thought of doing it that way. Should leave a nice aroma in the house, wouldn' t you think. We like to marinade them in soy sauce then toss them directly into our fire pit by camp. After a few hours, we pull them out and scrape the jerky off then toss them back in. The garbage in the pit seems to keep the meat tender and give it a good flavor with the soy sauce!!!
