RE: Powerbelts
I used a 245 grain hollow point with 150 grains pyrodex rs and shot a mule deer doe at just under 150 yards. Perfect shot that went through both lungs and exited. Now consider the distance, You dont need 150 grains for up close and personal deer shots. I like lower charges, All of the shooting ive done with logs and water jugs, 80 to 90 grains with a 225,245,295 powerbelt offer excellent mushroomed bullets. Even 100 grains of triple 7 is a hot load for powerbelts. 100 grains of anything blows the center out of the plastic "sabot" and it stays connected to the nipple at the rear of the bullet. That throws off some accuracy but not much.
With that 150 grain load and the 245 and 295 powerbelt, the entrance and exit wound were the size of the bullet, They didnt have the time to mushroom and expand. 80-90 grains powder allows them to perform like they should.
