RE: Taurus 1911: what a dissappointment....
Taurus bought the old tooling from Beretta. The tooling that would not pass the US military spec. They also bought alot of the Old S&W tooling. Not the new tooling. I remember when Taurus first started shipping their 92-it was a good product, but it was by no means a Beretta. I am not saying that the tooling was worn out-but you decide. Do you want old used tooling?? Or new tooling, that would obviously have a tighter tolerance??
I sold firearms for years, and I personally saw a lot of Taurus productreturned. Lot's of quality problem's.
You made a smart decision buying the Kimber. If for some reason you needed to sell it tomorrow you would have no problem selling it. If you needed to sell a used Taurus tomorrow the first thing the buyer would think is what is wrong with this one(why is he selling it). Most people would never second guess the quality of a used Kimber. If you do not believe me then take a used Kimber and a used Taurus to a gun dealer and ask him which one he would rather trade for??
Taurus pistol's are what they are. They are a less expensive knock off of a higher quality gun. I am not trying to knock Taurus(As I am sure someone will post), I am just stating the facts as they are. Even if Taurus has greatly increased their quality(which they very well may have), perception is reality. Tom.
