Default RE: What is your opinion on hunting shows

I believe that hunting shows, as also with hunting magazines, are dominated by the commercial interests that fund the shows. You won't see many hunting shows discussing some sage hunting veterans engaged in a do-it-yourself hunt on public land. Almost invariably the hunt focuses on some guided/outfitted hunt -- with the address and phone number of the guide/outfitter prominently displayed at the end of the program -- and often on a private ranch. I have precious little use for these nearly paid advertisement programs. As I said, I feel that most articles in hunting magazines are less about hunting and more about selling product than anything else. You who have read these magazines over the years, you judge my statement. It seems things have changed over time -- maybe over the past 20 years -- so the equipment and the more expensive equipment in particular tend to be much of the focus of the feature articles. I've let my outdoor magazines expire for this reason. I don't need to read anymore commercials that I have paid for with my subscription. Just call me cynical.
