If he got spooked he will take off like a bat out of hell. I had a deer do this 6 years ago. Found good blood than nothing, I found 1 spot 70 yds away. I just kept walking in that direction on a trail. Found the doe 200 yds later, never saw a drop. When you get help, just start walking the trail you think he went and look.

He will take the easiest path, unless he's super buck[&:]

I agree with you. I am wondering if something jumped him last night during the 5 hours I let him lay. There are dogs within 70 yds. of him. I can imagine if they started barking up a storm he might have buggered out. The problem I am having is that last blood is not in the thick stuff. It is in an area with nothing but dirt and leaves scattered about. There is not really any telltale trail to even walk on. At this point it is like a needle in a haystack, he could have gone 10 different directions.[:@]The sad thing is, I saw this buck Sunday night up in the field I hunt, and went out yesterday to target this specific deer. He was the last deer that I saw last night and this is after passing a big 6 pt. I could have shot about 50 times holding out for this deer. It was about 15 yds. shot quartering away. I should have waited for him to turn more broadside. I hate thinking about killing an awesome buck and him going to waste, makes me sick. Plus he stole my arrow lol.
