I have two of the Rem 700's and they still remain amoung my most favorite ML's. And I do have a few to choose from, but I still would not part with them.
They do have a couple of gliches that you need to work through, 1-cleaning the bolt 2- A weak firing pin spring, that is easily replaced. 3- the Remington factory 209 ignition system.
There are a few people that complian about theWalker trigger, I happen to like mine they are fully adjustable and they are easily adjustable.
The barrels are excellent Douglas barrels, mine both happen to be SS.
MyRemingtons will shoot just bout anything Iput down them, other than I have never shot conicals from either barrel.
My favorite loads are:
Elk....458/300 grain Nosler Partition Protected Point
( a .451/300 grain Nosler Partion Hollow Point is a good sub)
MMP HPH-.457/458-50 Orange Sabot
110 grains T7-2f
Cablela's 209 conversion shooting Remington 209-4 primers
White Tail.... .451/260 grain Nosler Partition HP
MMP HPH-24 .451/.452 Black Sabot
110 grains T7-2f
Rem 209-4
Poorman's Version of both loads and seem to be a very viable replacement:
.452/300 grain Speer Bonded Gold Dot and the .452/250 grain Speer Bonded Gold Dot
These two Remington's just shoot!
