A typical mature white oak produces about 2000 acorns per crop. That's roughly 15 pounds worth of acorns per tree. From what I'm seeing on ebay, white oak acorns sell for about $1.50 per pound shipped to your door. So for about $20, I could have the equivalent annual acorn production of one mature white oak tree.

That seems better than paying $10 for a2 foottall potted oakand waiting 30 years for acorns.

I know corn is cheaper, but everybody around here has corn. I think deer prefer acorns over corn.
