This is something I have never understood,why is it others get upset when others use different equipment to shoot.I have shot everything under the sun and have won tournaments with hunting rigs from open stakes and shoot open equipment most of the time.

Yes it is practice for hunting but it is also ARCHERY and it can be a competition if you choose it to be,or just a lot of fun or both.

I do understand that open equipment does take longer to get ready for a shot with.The reasons are simple.The sight must be adjusted to exact yardage with every shot and the yardage must be judged exactly before the bow is drawn.There is no holding a little high or low with a scope,you must be precise and a scope is actually tougher than pins untill you learn to use them.Basically you can' t gap the pins.

It is absolutely correct that a group of open shooter need to let faster shooters thru and in most cases that is exactly what happens but it doesn' t always happen that way.Especially when the faster group starts mouthing about the slower one,they seem to be stuck behind a little longer.


One more thing,I know people that hunt with these rigs,except for the long stabilizer,and one has a 180 class deer to his credit with an open rig.As well as about 20 other book deer.
