RE: how long will a deer be good in high temps.
Well that introduces a whole new scenario into the equation. The deer will probably not be good by 3-4 in the afternoon the next day. They should have gave it a little time and tracked last night. Or called off school this morning. Lots of pink & red blood can be good. If the arrow hit high but still caught lungs, you’ve got a dead (& now spoiled) deer. If it went hi over the spine, thankfully you’ve still got a live deer.
This is a PERFECT example of the “hit one need help” posts of why you should include EVERY tidbit of info for us to help you. I’m talking Mauser the post(Can I used him as an adjective?) tell us 10x more than we need to know.
Had your 2nd post been included with the 1st, the recommended procedure would have went very differently. This also brings up a good point that if you are going to hunt at any time, you really need to have a plan for bad shot(long track jobs), or don’t go out.
