I switched from my Horton to the Excalibur line because of weight, this would be a big factor for your son. The Excalibur is a lot lighter then most Compound CB's IMO. I have not shot it since I own a Vortex, but the Vixen is a nice light and smaller CB. A few big grown men on here have it and kill deer with pass through just fine.
