My family has CRP land in kansas. It is a conservation program that pays the farmer so much money per acre to plant it to CRP grass. The grass is a blend of grasses that grows pretty tall and makes great cover for upland birds, deer, turkeys, etc.... It is specified in the contract how much land is planted and the land has to be aproved for it. You can hunt it, you can't drive in it, you have to burn it off 1 time in the 10 year contract period. From what I have seen with our land the pheasant population has really grown. The deer love to bed down in it especially when it gets really cold out. You are able to make a road through it if you get that approved in the contract. We also have food plots around the outside of ours that are included in the 10 year contract. It sure has helped our wildlife populations.
