Hey Tex, try a gut hook style blade on the hog hide, you'll love it. I make my own out of old bandsaw blades from a sawmill. I put a hook on both sides of the knife so if one gets dull you can flip it over and have another sharp one. I sharpen them with a chainsaw file.
