If you are a NWTF member, put on your NWTF hat and talk to him about the birds too... Explain what the NWTF does, explain what kind of hunter you are. If anything, you can find out where the birds go, or where others are, and who in the area might be open to hunting. We started out with two farmers who gave us permission to hunt their land - we keep in touch with cards and calls, and we clean up anything we see. Once you get one farmer, you can use that name to drop on other farmers and a lot of them say, if so and so says you are okay, then it will be okay with me. Even if he says no, talk about if he enjoys seeing the birds, if he would like to see more, and explain ways he can improve his flock. If he says no this year, send him a card or a gift thanking him for the chat and try again the next year... build up a reprituar (I know I massacred that word)... Good luck.
