Yeah the rules have always been like this since I can recall! I hunt zone A and the deer population is definantely not enough to handle 10 doe kills, have also hunted region B and dont see where there population is enough to handle that many kills!!! I am trying to figure out which season you are talking about taht you only have one day to kill a doe??
Page 30 of the Guide to Hunting and Trapping says that Dec 8 is the Antlered or Antlerless firearms day for Zone A. December 29 is the same thing for muzzleloader season. This is on DNR Public Lands. During ML season the anlerless season is Dec 27-29 on "All Other Lands". Take a look and let me know if I am not reading it correctly.
Even though theliberal bag limits have been in effect in Zone B for several years now, I still have yet to meet anyone who has shot their limit of does. I have killed as many as six, two for my family and the rest went to non-hunting friends who like venison. None went to waste. I would have no heartburn if the limit were reduced dramatically, say two or three for the year with all weapons combined. Unfortunately, the uncontrolled destruction of habitat here in Frederick County is crowding the deer onto smaller and smaller parcels and the landowners want them killed. The price of progress?
