Its really not fair comparing it to a VXIII unless your totally blind it is the better scope optically. Customer service wise it seems to match up as well but Leupold has the longer standing track record in that regard. My only question is ability to handle recoil of some of the big boomers.Some Leupolds go almost 5" with eye relief so that is another major consideration with a big boomer . My next scope will be the 4.5x14x44 model they offer but it will be put on a 7 Rem mag which is gentle to scopes and the reason is the clarity of that scope.
