Definately agree with passing on the see thru mounts, just lifts the scope to high. If you get one of the many quality lower power variable scopes on the market, can adjust to very low magnification on the low end, and they work great. I have a Leupold 2.5 x 8 on my rifle barreled shotgun, and have never had a problem not being able to find a closeup whitetail in the scope.
