1) The faster a bullet goes, the faster it expands, a bullet does not "Go so fast that it zips right through a deer."

2)There is no "brush gun"...That myth was debunked back in the '60s...
Use your scope to find openings in the brush, better yet, wait until you have a good clear shot of your target before you pull the trigger...

3) Plywood is plywood and deer are deer, shooting plywood shows you nothing about how a bullet reacts to bone, muscle, hide and blood.

4)The military is not allowed to use expanding bullets so trying to compare the bullets we hunt with and what NATO will allow is not a valid comparison....Frankly the Ithica pump shotgun loaded with buckshot was our soldiers preferred weapon in the jungles of Southeast Asia.
