You are very well "read", but you don't have the experience to be offering advice. Other than bullet weight choices, there is not enough difference in 270 and 308 to be arguing about them. In your comparison of 308 and 7mm magnum shooting boards, were you shooting the same bullet and weight? If not, there is no merit in the comparison.
As for gun brands, I own Rugers and Remingtons, and my brother has a couple of Brownings. Again, there is not enough difference in the three to argue about. I have owned Ruger that would out shoot Remingtons, and vice versa. Brand is a personal preference. Your "screw Ruger" comment just shows you immaturity and ignorance. If you want to brag on your Remington, that is fine, but I have killed nearly 100 deer with a Ruger 270. How many deer have you killed with your Rem 308?
Unless the poster of this thread just wants to buy a new gun, there is absolutely no valid reason for him to buy a 308 for an under 200 yard gun.
