RE: H&R SLUG HUNTER DELUXE
You absolutely cannot go wrong purchasing a H & R Ultra slughunter. I have the 12 gauge, since the 20 gauge was not available yet when I purchased a few years ago. Two years ago I killed a 16" 3 x 4 whitetail at 150 honest, per Leica rangefinder, yards. I have found that my rifleprefers the Winchester Platinum Tip sabots. So far, no deer I have aimed at in the last four years, has walked away from this load. At 400 grains though, I think they put outabout the sameenergyas hitting them with your car. That is the main reason why, the only thing I would change now, would be to purchase the 20 gauge version. When you first pickup one of these rifles they sure seem heavy, but after pulling the trigger a few times with the magnum sabot loads, you really appreciate the weight. I have not shot the 20 gauge, but have to imagine it putting a lot less recoil into your shoulder. Install a neoprene stock cartridge holder on one of these, and you have more fire power than you can imagine.
