Now why is it that certain area's hold a greater percentage of big bucks than others.Onlya fewreasons come to mind,Game department management, where seasons are shorter, and firearms use is more limited, and buck tags are restricted.Private land Trophy management.Area's that are extremely vast, where the animals are protected by the effort needed to get to them.Lastly would be hunter discipline.
TSOC, also mineral content/ph of the soil has a lot to do with it too. That's why most of the "Big Buck States" also happen to be in the "Corn Belt". The dark rich soil gives the plants there more nutrients and thus there is more available for the deer. I think there's a map somewhere that will show you the location of all the P&Y or B&K bucks taken on record and you can see which areas have more taken than others. Pretty interesting.
