I was in Durango Oct 3 2004, 72 degrees and sunny at 2:00pm, 4:30pm cloudy windy 44 degreess, as I left Durango and traveled north on Rt 550, rain and sleet 1/2 hour out of Durango, climbing in elevation, we hit 2" of snow and 31 degrees along Cascade Creek area, finally arriving in Silverton at 6:45 pm, 3-4 inches of snow and 27 degrees. Stopped many times to photograph the snow coveredNeedle Mtn range. In 2006 last week of archery season, some area's had picked up 15 inches of snow, come prepared !
