Ok, I finally did it.
I've lived in PA for about 10 years now, but I did something I had never done before yesterday...bought my PA hunting license. I grew up and lived in MD for about 23 years. I had always hunted there, had some private land to hunt there and was comfortable with the hunting rules there. So, even after moving to PA, I continued to hunt there, buying my out of state license each year and traveling an hour or more to get to my spots. To be honest, PA's hunting laws and alot of the posts I would read on here and alot of the horror stories I would hear at the local gun shops intimidated me from buying a PA license. But I finally decided this year that I will go ahead and buy both, my resident PA license and my non-resident MD license. There's some state game lands not far from my house, so I think I'll check those out as a start and try to pick up some private land here and there as I go along. The doe application process is a bit over-whelming as I hadn't had to apply for a doe permit in MD in about 15 years. But, I'm learning as I go. MD, with it's long bow season and generous bag limits will probably still be my #1 choice, but I'm willing to give PA a try. Any advice? (Try to keep it positive, please. No "there's no deer in PA" posts, please.)
