Ideally, you eventually want to own a climber (I've got a couple Summits; absolutely rock-solid and comfortable enough to sleep in) AND several fixed-position stands.

That way, you'll have the choice of extreme mobility and running-and-gunning, and have several already up in key or likely spots.
