Things won't change in that book. You have to read some of his later writings to pick up on the changes. When you're reading Fred Bear, Howard Hill, Saxton Pope and especially Maurice Thompson you'll run into descriptions of hunting methods and shots on game that'll make your skin crawl. Just remember you're reading history. You should judge bowhunters' by the standards of their time instead of applying today's standards to their actions then.
