Default RE: Main Beam Length - Age Estimation?

i agree with pilot in his reply. i am from indiana also, and the deer in my area seem to be larger than most of the deer than i seen in pennsylvania, where i am origionally from. it seems like a lot has to do with genetics and food supply. most deer in my area in the 1 1/2 year age group seem to have pretty decent racks. i don't know if the lengths of the beams will exceed 14 or 15 inches though. i am fortunate enough to own property that seems to be to be a haven for deer. i usually wait it out and take an older deer. i did take one deer two years back that i thought was an older deer. it was an eight pointer with 14 1/2 inch beams. the deer wighed 172 pounds. it was checked out by the DNA, and they said it was a 1 1/2 year old deer.
