Default RE: deer driving

Drives can and are effectively used for bowhunting. In fact, if it wasn't for driving deer I may never have found the love that I have for bowhunting. That is how I cut my teeth in the sport many years ago. That is how I learned about bedding areas, escape trails, primary rub lines, scrape lines, and how topography affects movement. We killed a lot of deer doing drives with bows, so it is effective if done properly. I currently do not employ this tactic with a bow, but I'm thankful for it and what I've learned from it.

As far as it not being sporting, that is just a matter of opinion. In my experience even if there was an island of cover that held deer and it was surrounded on all sides and driven, I would being willing to bet lots of money that some of the deer in that cover would escape. I think you are giving us hunters more credit than we deserve.
