SUSPENDED TARGETS
Just thought I'd post a quick lesson learned on my part. I started shooting with a bag target sitting on the ground. After a while, I had split four of my arrows.
I know that I'm not supposed to shoot groups at shorter ranges, and I usually don't, but sometimes I can't help myself. I like to see that cluster of arrows.
After building a frame and suspending my target, I haven't split any. I've broken some nocks and punched holes in or stripped vanes, but never damaged a shaft.
After the arrows impact, the target is still swinging just enough on the next shot that it's very unlikely that the next arrow will hit the nock end of an arrow at the correct angle to split it. Still possible, but unlikely.
