If you are like me and don't enjoy the recoil and can afford it, look at a Browning BAR. Gas operation reduces recoil alot. I have an uncle and cousin that shoot them in 7mm mag in Oregon and Canada. They have no cold weather problems as long as:
1) When they clean the gun they wipe excess oil off.
2) When hunting in really cold, they leave their guns outside in the vehicle so that there is not a big temperature change and moisture won't foul up the automatic.
