The 280 Rem is also a great cartridge, agueably better than the 270 Win as far as versatility, but has nowhere near the popularity. Why? It was never the pet cartridge of a well-known gun writer. As far as the 30-06 goes, name me a cartridge except for the 30-40 Krag adopted by the military that hasn't been successful in civilian shooting. Yes, it too is a super cartridge. My original point is this, the 270WSM offers nothing over the 270 Win which could not be better served by the 7mm, or 300WSM, therefore it will not find a niche.
