bought the groundhog rig!!
well...i done and did it! i found a new remington 700 SPS Vamint in .22-250. i really like how it feels. they only show black on their website...mine has a OD green stock but its the same stock. trigger aint half bad either..well...i guess im used to pulling a 30lb rough old mauser trigger. its heavy..but crisp..
also came with a cheap cheap 4-12x40 scope. has the remington R on one of the caps...the box just says RIFLE SCOPE. i knew it wasnt anything great. the rings and bases are getting thrown out tomarrow. i went to make sure the bases were tight and the screws just spin!
the scope dont seem half bad...i mean it aint no leupold or anything...but its pretty clear...im going to see how it shoots with it..if its ok i might leave it on till i get the money for a better scope...if its true junk ill throw my 3-9x40 leupold vari-x II on it for the time being..i should be alright out to 400yds or so with the 9x...
also ordered a 13-23" harris bipod for it...perfect for sitting shots. i always shot from shooting sticks..figured it was time for a bipod...i prefer to sit up when groundhog hunting...sometimes its near impossible to shoot prone...
what grain bullets should i shoot with a 14" twist?? im guessing that means 1 in 14"...also...what bullets should shoot the best and make mush of the groundhogs???
thanx guys...i cant wait to put some rounds through it!! i dont know if i'll beable to find good rings and bases or if i'll have to order them..hope i can find them so i can be shooting saturday and hunting saturday evening!!
