RE: Another T.V. Show Mistake!!!
You know, really, George can take that shot and pull it off just a regularly as I can take a 30 yarder, maybe better. Heck, George can shoot bottle caps at 60 yards all day under the most extreme pressure and concentration of tournaments without missing a beat. If he feels he can do it..... good for him. Have at it. BUT.... I will tell 99.99% of the world to "DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT".... because that shot is probably going to go bad before it ever becomes good. I would prefer they don't give all the newbies and the non-bowhunting world the idea this is a thing we do regularly or ever even try. I'd prefer they stick to dots and X's to show off their talents... but, someone wanted them in a hunting video. For those of you who think this is a pipe dream shot for George... shoot along side of one of these guys for an hour or two or a couple days. It happens over and over and over without fail.
I remember at the Congressional shoot this year where they had a qualifier for the ESPN Greatoutdoor games. All the big boys were there. The day before the brass got there these guys started practicing about 9AM. It was about 90+ by 11:30 when they broke for lunch. At around 12:30 or 1:00 they went back at it and shot and shot and shot. The heat index may have been around 100. I was in my "Shade seekin' Mode". About 4 they decided to have their qualifier. They had stood in the broiling sun for hours.... PRACTICING. Then they shot for all the marbles, money and slots to Lake Placid. X after X after X at ranges out to about 55 yards. It was finally decided after 3 rounds of shoot off when one guy missed an X or something. Then they looked at it for 5 minutes to decide if it was out or in. They weren't really X's during the competition but it might as well have been. At some of the stations they're shooting at dots the size of a golf ball traveling about 15 mph. They just don't miss.
So, George can take the shot. It still sucks as far as I'm concerned... but I'm no George. By the way.... he got his butt whipped that day by a half a dozen sharp shooters.
