I WOULD NOTput him up in a stand first time. There are other serious andpotntially fatal things to bepaid attention to first time out.

ONE THING AT A TIME.

Put him on the ground in a well constructed ground blind. Construct it well before hunting out of it to "season" it in well (scent). Additionally, on the ground he will have more directional shot opportunities and can easily utilize some shooting sticks.

Now if you have some sort big floored tripod with railing - that might be a little different.
