The trade in 54 cal.percussion is what I would be looking for but dave say it won't fit.I have a spare percussion lock I would like to put to use in a PA Hunter stock.
I would suggest then that you watch ebay for the stock, since you have the lock. A lot of gun parts on there, you should be able to get just the stock for $50 or $60 bucks and then buy the new barrel at MidSouth and your good to go with basically a new rifle for $150, which is very, very cheap for a rifle. I have been watching a few stocks with the FL in them already in the TC Renegade style, and they go from about $130 to $150 for the stock and the lock. So that gives you a bit of a range on prices of these things. Yard sales are coming up and old flint guns are sometimes there, so check those out also. My brother put together a 45 Caliber for about $50-$75buying parts at yard sales and a friend who was selling a barrel after upgrading to a Green Mountain, so good deals on parts could be had. I know an L&R Lock for a Flint lock cost about $130, so that is an expensive part. Barrels are $160 to $220 for a TC or a GM for a flinter and the stock is anywhere from $50 to $100. Whole guns new from TC are $559. I only know the TC lince of FL, since that is what I have. Traditions will be less, but how much less I don't know. Good luck for your gun fixup strategy, it is fun to build a gun from parts.
