RE: quality manufacturers
Over the years I've had my share of defects. Not with one manufacturer but several. Smith&Wesson,Ithaca,Colt,Browning and Yes Ruger a few times. Some were cosmetic and others were plain defects. In fact my one Browning BAR "Stalker" was sent off yesterday. The metal insert for mounting the scope base is stripped or defective. The BAR hasn't even been fired yet and problems.A few years back I had a new BAR Safari II, Blotches in the bluing.Once I bought a new Colt Diamondback. Looked good at the store.Removed the cosmo(grease)coating when I got home with it.It looked like the gun had been dragged on the floor before shipping. Colt replaced the gun.S&W Model 29 front sight blade crooked,Smith replaced the barrel.Ruger Redhawk shooting way left, rear sight all the way to right. Ruger replaced barrel, cylinder and other misc parts.Ruger SRH, Scope rings making bad cuts in mounting rail. Defective cut outs for rings.Ruger replaced with new gun.No matter who makes it,sooner or later a defective piece will slip through.Thankfully in most cases these companies will stand behind their products.
