When I go out and roost birds, I get to a location where I cant be seen but heard. I keep my distance from the roost trees. I will use my mouth call and yelp and cutt real loud. This has always worked for me. Fly up times depend on the weather. Clear out means they will go to roost a bit later. Cloudy and they can go to roost earlier.
