I find myself starting to shoot the day without one. Then as my form begins to deteriorate, I screw one on if I am still shooting and cannot stop (aka...in the middle of a 3D shoot). It helps steady a shakey hand after a long day of shooting.

Otherwise I don't use them for hunting and would recommend not using one. But, everyone is different.
