Atta boy Arrow! Congrats. Can't wait to see them!
|
Way to go Arrowmaster....knew it was just a matter of time before it came together.
|
Congrats Arrowmaster. That is why they call it turkey hunting instead of turkey killing.
Seems like some seasons are easy, birds just walk right in and other seasons it feels like it will never happen. |
Bornagain... I was just having that convo with a friend last night... seems like its feast or famine w/ seasons... some you can do nothing wrong... and others nothing right!
Going tomorrow w/ my girls... my 12 year old will hopefully fill my last tag of the season... or my wife's if she ends up coming out too. I hope to make it a family event. My buddy says there has been a big tom the past 2 evenings and AMs out in front of our blind. He said it is taking him all of his willpower to not go kill him! lol But he'd rather see Lena crack it. She shot her first bird at his place when she was only 7! |
Good luck getting the girls on a bird MaHunter. You've had a good season.
|
Good luck MA hunter. Enjoy the morning hunt and post some pics after. Hoping you get on some birds and she gets one.
|
She got one!!!! Big ol tom. 20+ lb. came in silent w a few hens. I heard him drumming for 20 min before we Finally saw him. He came in strutting. Popped his head up and she leveled him at about 25 yards w her 20 gauge. So proud.
He never gobbled once. |

Congrats. That is awsome.
|
I shot a bigger bird this morning, I'll try to post tonight!
|
Way to go Car.
Coming down to the last few weeks, and looking good for a repeat. |
Nice job Car.
|
Great job Car! Can't wait to see it. I'll get pics of my daughter's bird Monday am
|
Teams are keeping track if the scores and peeking on our thread.
They know swamp slayer shot 3 birds 4 weeks ago and never "officially posted scores". That is sad. They know Arrowmaster killed a nice 1 and said that will put us back in the lead. Gonna be close, we really need ss to post his birds. |
Arrows bird puts us back in first plus the extra points from car. We'll be back in lead and if those other birds ever get posted it should seal the deal... we should be back up by 40+ points again w arrows and cars updates

Here he is guys,
23lbs 4 oz 11.0'' beard 1.125 spur 1.25 spur 69 for the score |
Congrats Car. Huge bird. That will help the team score.
Lets here the story.? |
Nice bird Car. Congrats
|
Great bird Car! That's a whopper!!!
Here is my daughter's bird from Sat Am. ![]() |
I'm pretty sure the bird I shot was the same one that I couldn't connect on last year. The area I hunt has a small population of turkey. Last year I had a tom that I tried calling in for 10 days without any luck. He saw me draw my bow back on the first day of the season and after that he wouldn't come close enough to me for a shot, even when I switch over to my shotgun. Since I didn't hunt this property until late in the season this year, I figured he was dead or moved on to another location. I'm really glad I got him this year because the property was leased out for hunting, so this will be the last year I'll be able to hunt it.
|
Nice picture MaHaunter. Congrats to both of you. Them smiles say it all!
|
Big smiles, not sure whos is bigger.

Here is my daughter's bird from Sat Am. ![]() Stopping over from Team 4 - congrats on some great seasons, you guys are dropping some nice birds. WMH - we were on the same team last year, glad you got one with you daughter! PS > We're on your heels boys, and a few of us still got some tags and time :eek2: S&R |
Thanks Strut! Great competition this year!
Thanks for all of the kind words guys... I definitely was smiling bigger than her. I am having our local taxidermist do a fan mount for her with this bird. I have done the quaker boy one's myself before, but I figured this deserved the real deal. Nice thing was, when I went in to drop off the fan, beard, & spurs, my buck from last year was out and having it's rack set on the form. I didn't have my phone for a pic though... Shot my biggest MA bow buck ever last season! |
Oh that a real nice bird your daughter shot, congrats!
|
Win or lose guys, it's been fun. For those guys that participated this year, hope to be on the same team again next year. Considering we still have four guys on our team that did not participate this season( three that still have not shown and one with family emergencies). I think we did great.

Indeed Ray... it's been fun. I do believe we have been on teams together years passed. I think I have been doing these contests since '03 or '04. I have missed a couple of seasons in the contest during that time though.
Arrow, when you gonna get your birds posted up? That will put us back in 1st, last time I checked. |
Yep, it has been a good time and enjoyed meeting some new people and hearing the different hunting stories.
Pretty good team effort, at least the guys that showed up. When we repeat, we might need to replace a few guys that never showed up or never posted there scores. I know Arrowmaster will get his up soon. Would be great to hear a good report from Mookyj and have him be able to hunt with us next year. If you where on the team and particpated on the forums, but did not get a bird, that is why they call it hunting. I have gone a spring season without getting a bird, that is just part of it. Still a good team effort. |

It has been fun, I've done this for several years! I haven't posted as much as some ,but I really enjoying reading all the stories. Good luck to all of you guys!
|
Nice job Arrowmaster. Was it a tough season for you?
At least it finally came together for those 2 birds. That will put us back in the lead. We could really use the birds swamp slayer killed 5 weeks ago to get posted. It is gonna suck if we loose because someone did not post therr score. Anyone on the team still hunting? |
Nice job Arrowmaster.
|
Great job Arrow!
I know I have been on teams w/ many of the regulars on this thread and other team threads and it's always been fun! I still have one more tag. Season ends Sat. I don't know if I'll get out again... i'd like to sneak out one more morning at least this week, but we will see. It's been a great season for me, so I can't complain! If we get the birds from 5 weeks ago entered, it should seal the deal, but if not, it will be down to the wire... but w/ only 2/3 of a team actually showing up, I sure am proud of our effort! |
Arrow, Let's get those entered on the score post!
|
Arrowmaster, nice looking birds! Congrats!!
|
Thanks everyone. I am headed back to Nebraska for another go around over Memorial day. Its been a tough year hunting especially here in Indiana, Early spring with a late season combined with over 10in of rain made Indiana almost impossible to hunt. Hopefully I can put a bigger bird on the ground soon.
