My buddy just purchased an 870 Express Youth Model. I plan on hooking him up with a Primos Jellyhead Choke too. I was wondering if anyone could suggest a good load in 3" that they usein the same or similar set up.
I was looking at the Hevi-Shot Hevi 13 in 6 shot. Any suggestions?? Thanks...
It's all what his budget & time will allow. You can have two identical guns with the same chokes & identical ammo & they will pattern differently. Hevi•Shot® is great stuff, greater energy with smaller shot. For me, (YMMV) the Hevi 13 doesn't pattern anywhere near as good as the older (now discontinued) Remington® Hevi•Shot® of a few years ago. The absolute, best patterning load (in my 20ga) is Federal® Mag Shok 3" Mag of 1 5/16oz of copper plated #6 shot. (It patterns better than Hevi•Shot®!)
