Checking in. After shoveling my driveway 3 times today with probably another couple inches of fresh snow waiting for me now, I'm ready for spring and turkey hunting!

JW 03-06-2015 04:17 AM

Well the Wizard (aka Arrowmaster) has swung his bent gnarly wand and created teams. Cool. Actually it is a busted pot striker! :)

JW here checking in - from WI - I hunt MI and WI - I used to travel to TN and GA but with the capability of getting 5 to 8 kill tags here......no reason to travel that far.

And I am a teacher - I am honored to be the presenter for the second year at a Learn to Hunt Program sponsored but a local NWTF Chapter, the WI DNR, and the Lake Noquebay Sportsman's club.

So let this game begin.

We need to pick a name
Pick a Captain

Pick on everybody else!

hey be safe out there

One week till opening day for me! We just had a winter storm yesterday that dumped a half inch of sleet and freezing rain on us. Today the high is 41 after an overnight low of 19. By Saturday the expected high is 75! Welcome to north Alabama weather!

The Cluckers

bald9eagle 03-07-2015 08:20 PM

I can't send you thousands of dollars but I will make the same offer I did last year. Whoever takes the highest scoring bird from the team I will send them a custom made pot call.

I like Team Turknado.

jmedenf 03-08-2015 05:16 AM

Been watching the turkey flock.
Looks like our numbers are going back up in my area.
I counted 55 last week.
I should have no problem filling both tags again this year.

To be totally honest I am not a user of sentence enhancers. It hit me that those suckers keep me flustered...and I am always trying to imitate them by clucking...therefore....there are a lot of flustered clucks being echoed throughout the woods in the spring. :s4:

bald9eagle 03-08-2015 06:17 PM

Looking at it...we've got Mizzou, Wiscy, and Bama all represented. That's some strong turkey populations and quality hunting right there.

And more days than not, I'm in the woods clucking like an idiot. Therefore, I would not be opposed to calling the team
"Cluckin' Idiots" :s2:

daveco 03-08-2015 08:26 PM

All checked in! Good luck, have fun, and stay safe, everybody.

Team Gobstoppers? I do like Turknado, tho.

JoeA 03-08-2015 11:10 PM

firelt72 03-09-2015 11:33 AM

My Average is a bird over 60 NWTF points for the past 7 years......I have not gone bird less (Shooting No Jakes) in over 15 yrs.........not many can say that.

I was 5 for 6 for the people I took out last yr. (Again no Jakes) That 6th was a young man not ready to turkey hunt. He was forced into it by his grandpa. Maybe this yr.

I think I shot my last jake in 2001 or 2002. The first few were
a little tough to pass but since then it hasn't been an issue.

On a sour note I lost one of my sure fire turkey spots this weekend.
I got my game cameras out of there Saturday. Had 6 big gobblers on camera too. I have had it leased for almost 20 years and the lady sold without even giving me a phone call.
