How close has team 1 closed the gap Phil?
How far is team 6 from us? Is there any other teams that are close?

Sorry I haven't been real active in the chat, just been real busy a work and in the woods all my spare time. This has been a heck of a team to be apart of. And Phil you were and excellent choice for captain. Hopefully we will hang on and get to do it all over again next year.

Team 1 with 8 best per hunter birds is very close.. We will be lucky to hangon if they have any hunters out there that could get an upgrade.. That is what we need to watch out for.. They are within 13.6875 of tying with us.. I hope we can hang on to this lead..

Team 6 I am not very concerned about right now.. They still are in need of 80 points to take us out..

Thanks Kellyquinn, it has been great being the captain of our team! I surely hope we can do this again next year as the same team.. We will soon be finding out. While I am not 100% sure but I believe this will come to a close after Saturday.. Wish us all luck that we can keep the lead. I believe most guys are done hunting now..

I also hope if any of our other members we have not heard from and maybe still hunting brings home a jake.. That would surely make us feel better..

Now I am crying.. LOL A fellow I work with went up into my hunting area and saw 4 huge tomes last Saturday.. He shot one of them with a 11 inch beard and 1 1/4 in spurs!! He was not sure which one was the biggest one and shot what gave him a chance to shoot.. I wanna go out again... Gueeze I wish I could be for the next 3 days.. Oh well I have had my fun anyways!!

Ok I was looking at team 1 scoring report. I believe they have two hunters that have birds just under 60. If either one upgrades by 13 or they both upgrade by a few point it could be over.

Word has it they just dug further into the feathers and found two additional 7" beards! :throw:

Yes they could easily be the game changer in this contest.. I am still hoping for the best though!!

Two of them have seasons threw 31st. I believe they can both upgrade. One has not posted since April 18 or so. The other it has been a few weeks.

As we all know the one that has been trash talking is from this poster that is trying hard to incite a flame war.. I find that to be very un-sportsman like and we should have no part of it.. If you go back you can see where he came on our team and started this around page 49..

After today four days left until the end of this contest. I think we will be able to pull this thing out

Well team it is winding down with only a few more days left of hunting left. I know we gave it a great shot and we will soon know where we stand.. Naturally I hope we finish right where we are but, no matter what we do have a great team here. Everyone has tried quite hard at laying the smack down on those birds.. Great job at getting it done guys!

Now that we have shot our birds.. What do you do with it after it has been taken care of? This pertains to the tail and such? My 2 birds this year I have the first tail fan now drying.. My second one I decided to try and cape it out. While I am not very sure on how it will come out I just thought I would give it a try. If it does not come out all that great I still will have a fan from it any ways so nothing to lose except time. Now with the spurs how do you keep them from scaling and falling apart ? I have not got this part of it to work right with me.. Any ideas? I would like to keep them to go with my fans or whatever. Thanks guys..

I try to make a fan out of every turkey I shoot. I want the walls of my man cave to be turkey fans. Who needs wallpaper

I hear you.. Do you know how to keep the spurs from drying and having the outer layer from peeling off? I want to save my spurs as well..

What I do for the spurs is cut the leg with a saw, about an inch above and below the spur, so you have about a 2 1/2 inch piece of leg with the spur. Next I clean the inside of the bone with a thin wire brush, like a 22 lr cleaning brush or something. Then I skin it. Peel all the scaly skin off and sand it some if needed to make sure its clean. Fill the inside with borax and rub on the bone and leave it for a couple weeks. Then clean it off good and youre left with that 2.5 inch piece of leg which is just spur and bone, no skin or flesh left to rot or dry and peel/crack. I think they look cool that way.

I have cleaned the inside out put a leather strap through it. I have also cleaned it and sprayed them down with lacquer.
