Sorry I haven't been on in a while. Hoping to get out hunting in a couple of weeks.

Should have killed this morning. I was reminded, hopefully for the last time, that the first decent shot you get, you take. If you wait for a better shot, it probably ain't gonna happen. Had a bird spitting and drumming on the other side of a log. He was no more than 30 yards away. He got close to the end of the log, and lifted his head up. All I could see was his head. Couldn't even see down to the feathers. Should've busted that noggin, but only needed him to come a couple more steps to clear the log completely. Wanted to wait for that, and it never happened. Kept spitting and drumming, but worked back down into the holler and away from me. I hate when you end up second guessing yourself! Back on them in the morning.

This season was a bust. I had one hang up on me this am, and walk a half circle then backtrack, gobbling all along every so often.

Tag sandwich for me. Next year, next year.

Keep at it guys. I am having the same kind of season down here in Florida.
I will be back in the woods on Monday for another go at it.

My season doesn't open until the end of April. In a couple of weeks I'll start looking for turkeys.

Got #2 today!!! Was on birds all morning. Finally worked into position to see them about 9, there was 4 longbeards and 8 hens. They were doing there thing and the woods opened up too much for me to move ahead of them.....I was stuck. I watched them scratch around and fight for almost an hour and finally they made it over the crest of the ridge. I was going to give them a little while to move on before I tried to move around so I wouldn't bump them. I finally cut a little to locate them and heard something walking behind me. There was a gobbler cutting across a draw straight to me. I had to roll over on my belly when he got under the hill. I could hear him walking and was laying there ready! He finally popped his head up about 20yds from me, and that's all I needed....BOOOOM! Butterball bandits strike again! Lol!! I've sent picks to Kenny so he can post.
Good luck everyone
