Got a new spot to hunt if it turns out to hold birds. Close enough to work, that I'll be able to go listen in the morning and still make it in by 7!! I'll be in the woods Thursday and if I hear birds in the morning, I'll hunt it Saturday. Sunday I'm going to give the birds me and Kenny tried another shot.....
To those of you not hunting yet...are you about ready to gettin the woods!?

I had a great time and it was exciting. My blood really started pumping when I heard the first gobble of the year. The woods lit up really well with gobbling.

Now Ethan and myself had birds on both sides of us. The birds did answer us and at times cut off the calls. I was sure we were going to have a bird pop his head up at any moment. So after a while and the birds seemed to move off we decided to move. Now we sat up on a small green field and had a bird spitting and drumming in the woods where we just sat up. That bird never did show himself. Our guess he was following a hen and wouldn't come to the field. So as we sat there, a bird was gobbling from where we had just left. As we discussed this later, he told me something that his dad had passed on to him. If you think you have sat there long enough wait another 30 minutes. That is a very true statement. Had we sat there another 30 minutes the bird would have been in our lap. This is a lesson I will remember. I had a great time hunting with Ethan and I plan on hunting with him again. Let me tell you he can sure make a call sing. Best turkey caller Ive ever heard. My only regret of the whole trip was not getting a picture of Ethan and myself. I planned on getting one but the turkey bug had us by the butt and we were to busy trying to put a bird on the ground. But I have the memories and will get that picture. Thanks Ethan...

Nothing but rain this morning. Heard a couple gobbles over the wind this afternoon, but never located them, and they didn't come to me. Followed three hens for a while hoping they would lead me to a gobbler, but no such luck. Always a good day to be in the woods!
