I hunt coyotes all year. There are just as many coyotes now as when I started hunting. Hunting has no noticeable effect on the population.

My best luck is usually early morning or late evening, but I have called them in at all hours of the day. I don't do much at night, because the insects will overwhelm you about 2 seconds after you turn on any kind of light.[:'(]
