Great Birds guys, the scores are starting to pile up! It ought to get really good when we late season states are cut loose. Until then I'll have to be content with eating these old Deer Tenderlions I grilled last night with this old Hickory Smoked Bacon wraped around them.

Miss #1. Called up a lonely bird Monday morn. Everything went as planned until I pulled the trigger. When he rolled over and flopped a couple times I just knew he was done. I was so confident that I didn't even get real excited about jumping up and going after him until he jumped back up and ran off and took flight.
I found a sapling about 4-5 feet from where he had been standing cut clean in two. I don't know which I hate more.....a flat miss or rolling one that runs off.

Congrats on the birds guys!!!!!!
Well my last two days have been something else! I've been chasing turkeys all my life and still learn new ways to mess up a hunt every year. Now I've taken my fair share of gobblers but what's happened here is like the birds rewrote Murphy's law just to humble this little turkey hunter down! It all started yesterday morning when I got on a bird that was some kind of fired up. He was in a patch of select cut pines and I managed to sneak about 150yds to setup. The woods were OPEN, so I opted to lay by a pine to hide. A few cuts, and Romeo was on his way. When he reached the 20yd mark I squeezed the trigger and CLICK!! Thanks Franchie.....for sell now! just barely demples the primer!!!
This morning I get close a roosted bird, he flys down, I hear him walking just over the rise about 50yds and he gobbled! Ok...he's about to die! I'm ready for him, but not for his friend that's eased in about 15 steps to my right that puts and runs and the gig was up! Wait!! There's more birds hammering so I run a mile to setup again! Called 2 birds across a cutover and a dirt road. These guys were coming fast and when they were about 80yds a truck comes down the road, turkeys run, never heard from them or seen them again! Now it's just 8 in the morning, instead of more punishment I got my daughter and made my 4 hr trip back home!! I had also called the landowner 2 birds up the last few days he couldn't see to shoot!
Hahahaha!!! Now let's see somebody top that!!
Well I'll be back at it Saturday, good luck to everyone hunting!!
