Not 100% sure if I'll be hunting my normal spot in New Mexico or not for mule deer this year, but I have a few decent bucks showing up on trail camera on my place here in Texas.

OK, I messaged the remaining 4, so it should go to their email as a HNI message, if they have it set that way. If we don't hear something soon we will get a replacement. Oaktree30 last logged in on Oct 2011, and WV Hunter on July 2012, we shall see

I have been asked that gman19 - Va - WV be put on team 2 so him and his father WV Hunter can be on the same team.
Is there any one on Team 2 that wouldn't mind being traded to Team 3, so gman19 and his father WV Hunter can be on the same team?

I agree with Bible Man - only if someone doesn't show up, then maybe he can join us. I don't want to ask anyone to switch teams, its not that big of a deal. I don't know when the actual cutoff is to "be checked in".

Alternates list will start after 12 midnight September 30 - 2012

Alternate's when necessary starting with first come first serve.
I will oversee it.
Team members have until October 31 - 2012 @ 12 midnight to,
Check in or you will be replaced by alternate.

We still have 3 folks that haven't checked in with just over a week before the deadline so I think we could put a pretty safe bet on there being an opening on the team for WV_Hunter's son.

Looks like I'm not going to hunt New Mexico this year so I'm going to have to rely on taking a good buck off my own property here in Texas this year.

This guy is #1 on the hitlist still. Not getting super consistent pictures of him but at least once a week. This one was from 4 days ago.

I'm thinking he would score right around 140" or so.

There's a decent 8 with an extra crabclaw that would be hard to pass up as well, but not a lot of others that would score very well. There is a 4x3 that is a mature buck and has good mass, just missing a tine on one side and not very long tines either.

Never know what will show up when you are out there though!

Nice buck npaden, and a good job on judging him. I came up with the same @ 140. 61 on either side with a spread of 18.

Great buck npaden...good luck with him! I wish we had bucks like that around here, but a 140 is probably 1 in a million, unfortunately. I'm hoping to get that 1 though - every year I hold that hope. :)

I haven't seen anything worth shooting yet, but I'm sure I'll bump into one sooner or later. Went out yesterday to mark my property lines like I do every year (paint/posted signs) and didn't see anything. Lots of acorns - major bumper crop this year. Not sure if that will end up hurting us or not. They certainly don't have to search for food. Didn't see even 1 rub, which was a little discouraging as I walked about a mile and a half - but I typically don't start seeing many rubs until Nov. M/L opens Nov 3rd, so hopefully things will begin to heat up by then. First two weeks of Nov have traditionally been very good here. I guess we'll see.

Oh, and I like the avatar - just add the 2 and we are good to go!

Wish I was out right now. Temp dropped from 82 yesterday to a high of 43 today, what a drop.

This has by far been the worst year EVER for me in terms of getting out. I have not even been out once bowhunting yet. :( Normally by now I'd have had 10 sits at least.

Went out yesterday to check on a few of my gun stands, clear some lanes and logging roads, etc. Found 1 small rub ... and a HUGE pile of fresh bear scat right near one of my stands. Didn't see any deer. We have a bumper crop of acorns here this year, hoping that won't hurt the movement too bad, haven't been seeing much lately. They certainly don't have to go anywhere to find food - its like walking on marbles.

M/L starts here in VA next weekend, I'll be out there hoping mr big walks by.

Been walking the countryside this last week tracking deer that clients have made bad shots on. Good deer, just 3 bad shots. Only 1 that I think will die.

Opening day ML here in VA. Had a pretty nice buck for my area sneak up behind me this morning around 8. The wind was pretty stiff, and I never heard him until he blew about 50yds downwind of me. I turned to see him bounding away, bummed. Real white horns. Did see a couple smaller bucks later in the morning a 5pt & 6pt - and a couple does. Not a bad sit for my place. Compared to last year, this was a stellar day. Hope it continues that way. Maybe I'll get lucky and get another crack at that bigger one, who knows. Glad to at least know he was around.
