I wish I had your selection of bucks in my area! Were those pics all together when you checked your cam? Or were there pics in between? I had about 20 pics of 1 buck in a row on my sd card, moving and turning his head and so on, but I noticed that the time on my cam (also a moultrie) had skipped and made it look like he was there for a long time.

sdhunter11 09-05-2012 07:09 PM

Yea those pics were all from the same time frame. The camera sat for 10 days before i checked it. Mine is a cudde back capture.

Mottz 09-05-2012 07:21 PM

I thought those were posted by jem? Anyway, does anyone happen to have any pics of yourselves so we kinda know who we are talking to?

Ohio. I mostly hunt small sections of private land. Alot of corn and bean feilds around so it can be hard hunting around here until the crops come off. My name did get drawn for the first two weeks of the season for a 1000 acre property. About 700 of it being woods and the rest crp fields. There have been some monsters seen and harvested around the area. I'm hoping for some good luck in there but i do not have many days i can hunt the first two weeks. I think it going to be a great season. I'm getting excited and i hope we can tear it up. Good luck guys.

On_Point 09-06-2012 12:18 PM

Well Risner, welcome to the party. If ya got pics, lets see em. Any particular bucks on your hit list?

sdhunter11 09-06-2012 12:58 PM

They have till the 21st before alternates are assigned.

sdhunter11 09-06-2012 04:49 PM

good, they still have some time then.

Tonight would be the perfect time to go out and do some scouting. Its only 65 F here right now but they wife is sick so i get stuck with daddy duty. Well maybe this weekend. Hope you guys are getting some scouting done. cant wait to see some more trail cam pics.

jemrami9 09-06-2012 04:51 PM

Evening guys! Yes, all the pictures are from the same timeframe. I placed my camera back around the 20th of July and checked it on the 11th of Aug and then again on 2 Sep. I wont be back out there again till early Oct. Just gonna let it sit as I dont plan on hunting till Oct anyway. Season opens 15 Sep however I will be on a TDY for a week and a half down in Arizona for some military training. I havent loaded up the remainder of the pictures of bucks but I will post a few if you wanna get an idea of whats running around up by me. I only have the one camera set up near my stand. Borders public land (good draw) and I am afraid someone may take my camera.... rather unlikely but that possibility exists

sdhunter11 09-06-2012 05:46 PM

id like to see the pics just see if there is any small bucks where you are at lol.

jemrami9 09-06-2012 05:54 PM

oh ok easy enough...... I can sort through em sure! Just shared the shooters so far lol

jemrami9 09-06-2012 06:28 PM

me with last years contribution....... Was all by myself and had to balance the camera on the truck door sill and do a self picture, got lucky but failed to notice the tongue fell out ugh...... lol oh well....

On_Point 09-06-2012 06:29 PM

Evening fellas, I went out & did some field glassing from the truck this evening. Didn't see any bucks, but the field was full of does & little ones eating beans. Anyways, it was good to see the deer doing exactly what their supposed to be doing.

jemrami9 09-06-2012 06:33 PM

Good evening! Glad to hear the does and fawns are healthy and bulking up. Bucks will be chasing em all over soon enough....

sdhunter11 09-06-2012 06:36 PM

I knew there had to be some small ones around their somewhere lol. That is a dandy that you got last year. What did he score?

Absolutely! I'm feeling the cold snap coming too, it won't be long now. Thanks for sharing the pics.

jemrami9 09-06-2012 06:41 PM

Thanks!!! I only got like 130 something but my team captain said I missed something. He figured it should have been higher than that. First time I measured or tried too anyway. Just went with that number I got and hoped for the best....

sdhunter11 09-06-2012 06:51 PM

Yea that does seem a little low. I was guessing low 140's. The buck in my avatar scored just shy of 150 gross and urs seems quite a bit wider.

On_Point 09-06-2012 06:54 PM

When scoring your harvest its best to have someone help. And for a more accurate score its best to use a tailoring tape because it contours the shape of the antler better. But yea, he looks wide for 130".

My entry last year was a whopping 8 points. 8)
I had to enter my cull buck because he came first, but then I ended up not getting a shot at my shooter buck, so at least I managed to score a spike buck for the team. I'm pretty sure it's the contests smallest score ever. Lol
But my shooters still out there haunting our ridges & he's even bigger this year.

sdhunter11 09-06-2012 06:58 PM

yea i remember last year, that sucked for both of us. I killed that dink too and couldnt score him because i had the meat in the cooler before i took of pic of me, the tag, the buck, and my bow. retarded. that meat did score pretty high on the betty crocker scale though lol.

On_Point 09-06-2012 07:01 PM

Live & learn. And yea, that deer cooked up just fine, even if he only scored 8 points.lol

sdhunter11 09-06-2012 07:04 PM

thats alright its all or none this year. Im gonna be the ricky bobby of the woods lmao.

I haven't had as much time to get cameras out this year as i would like and i like to stay out of my best places as much as possible, but for me that can be difficult sometimes. I have one on camera that i am on the fence with. Hes a beautiful 8 but i think next year he could be a dandy. The problem is around here the chances he'll make it to next year is slim to none.

sdhunter11 09-07-2012 04:44 AM

wow risner that is about a perfect 8. Its always a tough decision whether to let them go or not when you know others will likely take him anyway. I have that problem here too, just in my county alone the state gave out about 200 any deer tags and the tribe gave out over 700 any deer between out of staters and tribal members and non-tribal members, so hunting pressure is enormous and i have to ask myself the same question alot. "what are the odds of him making it another year".

Bowman4440 09-07-2012 04:57 AM

Damn hes a tall boy id have a hard time letting him slip by me

RisnerPSE 09-07-2012 05:30 AM

He hangs out in a really small patch of woods right now so if im going to take him it will have to be early or he will be gone looking for hunnies.

Bowman4440 09-07-2012 06:41 AM

He would look very handsome on the wall!
